MSOM Fellows’ Forum

About the MSOM Fellows’ Forum:

A letter from the MSOM Society President:

As the current President of the MSOM Society, I have been thinking of how to make the society's web page more informative and helpful for the young generations of OM. One idea I thought of was to create an "MSOM Fellows' Forum,” in which we publish comments or interviews of the MSOM Fellows on their views of the field - what made them choose the field, historical development of the field, what books and articles or other events that are most influential in their thinking and work, etc.

Below you will find a PhD student’s effort to get this project started. My hope is that future researchers will continue to work to add to this body of knowledge and that MSOM Fellows will continue to share their wisdom.

I think this is a worthwhile project, providing a resource for young researchers to learn more about the philosophical side of our field and get big-picture ideas and inspiration. I also believe it will benefit our society as a whole.

Jeannette Song

MSOM Society President, 2009-2010

A starting effort:

In response to Professor Song’s vision, we collected and compiled several questions from operations management PhD students. Below you will find responses to these questions from several MSOM Fellows. As a PhD student myself, I found these responses to be insightful, thought provoking, and at times even quite entertaining. It is clear that as young researchers we have very much to learn from these great minds.
